Warhammer 40K Caledonian Revolutions 2015
#21
Having played only a few games with dark Eldar, I've found going second is great, mainly because you will turbo boost onto objectives turn 5 and if you get lucky and the game ends you don't get shot off the obj. However I have been running a very diff list and only up to 1500pts. I tend to reserve as much as I can so that stuff comes on and gets to do something before getting shot - unbelievable how fragile de are on the first couple of turns. Once you hit turn 3 and have hopefully removed the biggest threats and have FNP up you are much more survivable. This reserve style is one of the main reasons I have been including a Talos and a cronos - they are very tough and fairly good at hiding, cover save in a ruin, 3+ armour, T7 and 4+ FNP can survive a turn or two of most things, whereas anything else can get killed pretty easy. Have been learning that keeping the transports alive is absolutely key to being effective in the late game so jinking is your friend.

Btw Dan I also like list 1, although I'm not totally sold on the ravagers.

OK here are the two lists I have been umming and ahhhing about:

Necrons CAD:
Orikan (120)
Lord - res orb, solar staff (90)
10 warriors - Ghost Ark (235)
15 warriors (195)
5 immortals, gauss - Night scythe (215)
10 Lychguard (war scythes) - night scythe (380)
Triarch stalker (125)
Triarch stalker (125)
5 tomb blades, gauss, nebuloscopes, shadow looms (105)
6 wraiths - 5 whip coils, 1 particle caster (260)
1850 total

Not sure about the immortal squad and the second triarch stalker. Could drop the immortals and night scythe and take a second ghost ark full of warriors, possibly drop the stalker to get a five man triarch praetorian squad to protect the fire base?

Dark Eldar CAD:
Archon - blaster, wwp (110)
Succubus - archite glaive, armour of misery, haywire grenades (115)
5 kab warriors, blaster - venom + spl.can. (120)
5 kab warriors, blaster - venom + spl.can. (120)
10 kab.warriors, blaster, sybarite, haywire grenades - raider, night shields, dark lance (185)
9 Wyches, hekatrix with agoniser, haywire grenades - raider with night shields, enhanced aether sails (205)
5 Kabalite true born, 4 blasters - raider with dark lance and night shields (190)
Razor wing jet fighter with 2 dark lances and splinter cannon (140)
5 scourge, 4 heat lances (120)
6 reavers, 2 blasters, 2 cluster caltrops, arena champ (156)
2 Talos, 2 tl haywire blasters (260)
Cronos, spirit probe (125)
Total 1846

Talos and cronos deploy, reserve everything else, hope for warlord trait on succubus that gives her reserve re rolls and hope everything comes on turn 2. Scourge and true born with archon deep strike, other stuff comes on normally with the wyches and succubus and reavers turboing where they are needed. Large warrior squad move close to cronos if still alive and push Talos and cronos forward.

What do you guys think?

Aren't the doomsday arks a bit pants though? Really powerful gun but very static and you still get cover saves from them.
