Ok first game, I lost 0-3. Second game saw me lose 1-2. Now things improved with me getting a 2-1 win, then finally the best result in round 4 with a 3-0 win, and capped out with a 27kill point game. Last activation saw me swipe the head off the opposing warlord, and steal his gem for myself.

Great day, nice and relaxed, in a far less competitive game system.

Really enjoyable day out despite losing all four of my games Blush Gutted that Paul beat me to the wooden spoon though - I was sure it had my name written all over it!

Game 1 - Battle at the Ford against the Welsh. Couple of turns in I thought I'd manoeuvred into a good position to put a real dent in the enemy with a Pagan Armor fuelled attack on the bulk of their Hearthguard, but my dice came up a bit short. No real plan B after that, and even stupidly conspired to lose my Warlord. Lost 3 - 0.

Game 2 - The Escort against the Rus Princes. Was relieved to be attacking the convoy rather than defending and managed to block any convoy progress across the board. However in doing so I'd taken out the bulk of the enemy army (including his Warlord) at the expense of much of mine, resulting in a narrow(ish) loss on kill points. Really enjoyed this game but I lost sight of the objective. Lost 1 - 0.

Game 3 - Clash of Warlords against the Irish. Messed this up quite a bit and once again came unstuck in the face of a lot of ranged attacks. Did get a bit of Wrath which allowed me to force a Warlord 1-on-1 at the end, but it was all pretty desperate stuff by that stage. Questioned whether the enemy Warlord should have had a point of fatigue during the final encounter, but on quick advice we decided against. Confirmed afterwards that it should, but I'm not sure it would have made much difference to the outcome. Lost 2 - 1.

Game 4 - Battle of the Hoard against the Anglo Saxons. Despite getting the first turn I didn't manage to get the hoard before my opponent, and he sat on it with a large unit that I struggled to shift for the entire game. I made a tactical change in the last game and fielded smaller units of Hearthguard, which on reflection wasn't the best thing to do. Managed to conjure a bonkers last turn where my Warlord made multiple moves in a single handed bid to dislodge the enemy from the hoard, but to no avail. Lost 3 - 0.

Still all great fun though, and a nice bunch of competitors. Encountered a few things for the first time such as banners and a few special units, so plenty to take away from the day.

Really enjoyed the day, played four very nice guys. Lost the escort game 2-1, the highlight being my Flemish Mercenaries peeling off the road to let the only baggage I managed to save to sprint to freedom. oh and my warlord died !! Lost the bridge game 2-1. was very close, my Flems securing one bridge early on , the second bridge went down to the last turn ,where I lost a melee allowing my opponent to get an extra 2.5 pts of troops across, then loosing by a point. Oh and my Warlord got killed!! Third game, clash of warlords against the youngest opponent. He had fantastic saving throws all game, and thrashed me 3-0. Oh and my warlord was deceased!!! Fourth game I lost 3-0 as I couldn't wrestle the Hoard away from my opponent. Was level on enemy kills, so was quite close. Oh and HIS Warlord passed away !!!!
