Will's Hobby log
#11
So my dropzone stuff got put to on side when I realised my LotR orcs were not painted. After a couple of evenings speed painting 24 orcs are now painted, including two captains and a banner. Could do with putting some basing material on, adding another highlight and a bit of detailing on eyes and teeth, but for the moment they are done. Just waiting for the postie to deliver some wargs and a troll so I can complete the force. I've yet to buy a Nazgul but one will be added as well.

In other hobby things ,the last few models for my frostgrave warband arrived yesterday so once they are painted I will have a nice unique war band Smile I'm also wondering if they would be suitable for a mordenheim warband?

Should be, that's the beauty of a lot of the fantasy skirmish systems - they almost encourage you to re-use existing figures Smile

I'm currently building my own warband for such systems.

Brilliant. Now I just need to find where I downloaded the mordenheim rules to. Smile

Hoping to be able to get more fantasy skirmish games in, once work gets a bit more quiet and I can make it to the club.

Excellent, I'd be up for some of that - got plenty of rules to explore: Otherworld, Mordheim, Frostgrave, Song of Blades and Heroes, Dragon Rampant, Open Combat, etc!

I actually have the song of blades and heroes rule book , got it as a present for Xmas. Haven't had a chance to play yet but after reading though looks interesting and fun.

Yay thanks, that saves me getting my old laptop out and trawling through its download folder. I would be interested in a campaign. Been feeling like playing in an old school GW skirmish game campaign, with lots of random tables for injury, death and experience Smile

Good news! I've managed to get some painting done.

I decided that the bases of my LotR mordor orcs probably needed something better than just painted green so I've based them properly and while I was at it I painted my new troll and nazgul. I've also stuck some paint on my LotR scenery that I've had hanging around for ages, hoping to get a drybrush and wash on it before tonight ready for the first campaign game Smile Despite this I've somehow ended up with more models to paint as I managed to get, the fellowship and, the original fellowship of the ring starter box cheap on ebay.

In other news I assembled my deathwatch:overkill Genestealer cult and marines. The models are crazy detailed and have to be assembled as the instructions so take a long time to put together. Luckily after my hospitalization I had lots of time for doing this as I recovered. Going to try and get some paint on them in the coming week!

Still using my not brilliant camera phone!

Always up for a game of that - it's very quick to pick up and play!

It looks really interesting and quick from the rules. Will have to organise a game between the Lord of the rings campaign games Smile

Not updated in a while so here goes...I use a large piece of cardboard that used to be an Amazon package as my painting "desk", as it lets me move stuff around easily and stops me making a mess when painting. Yesterday I filled the last piece of space on it with unpainted Lord of the rings models and Tyranids. no more space left. I need to get out of the rut and get some paint on some more models!

The last bit of space was taken up with my new biovore conversions for my Tyranids. Need to do some green stuff work on them to hide some seams here and there, but most of the work has been done. I wasn't planning to do the conversion just yet but I was waiting for a phone call from the RPA(rural payments agency) and my ebay package arrived so I figured might as well do something productive and assemble/chop up some miniatures.

Converted from the hive guard sprue. In the freedom of the main farmhouse kitchen.

They are now back at home on my very full painting cardboard on my coffee table, because having the models in front of you makes you do the work, right?

Edit: resized the slightly ridiculously large photos.

Edit: JJ - corrected the conversion typos from conversation haha.
