The paint I used on my eldar is supposed to be blue/green flip paint but came out mostly green. It's Tamiya 89912 PS Iridescent Blue/Green but is pretty hard to get hold of these days.

Just finished doing a "hobby audit" haha. I've updated my list at the top of the thread with current status. Hopefully now I'm more aware of what needs doing I can get cracking!

Not sure I've got enough tanks though...

That's a healthy number of vehicles Smile Could make a nice Armoured Battlegroup list with them. I really liked that FW list, a tank commander in a Vanquisher with beast hunter shells and co-ax stubber was soooooo much fun. What's the plan with all those tanks?

They've just kind of built up over time to be honest. There's also 2 Hydras and a Manticore, 6 Sentinels and a Vendetta too. Used to play Mech Vets.

Okay so I had a go at my idea for my Covenant ships, purple/green flip paint. Those familiar with my Eldar will recognise the paint....

First attempt I tried to paint straight onto the Purple plastic...

As you can see this failed.

Second, I did one pair undercoated white and one undercoated black...

[attachment=1920]
The flip paint literally had no effect on the white undercoat, another failure....

Attempt 3 was flip paint over black undercoat...

This was much more successful and it is likely the scheme I will go for on the bulk of my fleet although it has been suggested I triy grey primer under the flip paint too.

Just as a bit of an experiment I tried a pair in red too (to represent the Brutes)...

I'm planning on doing some shading on the Purple/White/Red pairs to bring out some detail but then doing the rest of my fleet in the Black undercoate with Purple/Green flip paint.

I guess if you put enough layers of paint on you eventually grow a Death Star!!! Big Grin

My very first attempt at airbrushing, not too shabby. I can tell it's going to take some practice...

Nice effect on the camo with the airbrush. I've been painting my models with an airbrush for yonks, so if you need any advice I'd be happy to help. It saves soooo much time, and for vehicles gets a great coat that couldn't be achieved with a brush. Anything bigger than a single infantry model I usually airbrush at least the first basecoat or colours.

What airbrush have you got? I've got this one. It's very old now and some of the nozzels are a bit busted. I could also do with a finer point as the "smallest" is 0.35. I could do with a 0.2 for real detail work.

RE: JJ's Hobby Log 2013-14 - jjakaalbinoboy - 18-02-2016

Hey Alan, thanks for the feedback. The airbrush I got for Xmas is a HS-30 apparently.

Don't know anything else about it though. Didn't know you could change the nozzles to be honest. I had a go without the nozzle on it though and that gave me a finer spread.

Any general advice?
