Not roleplay in the strictest sense, but anyone else remember the original Fighting Fantasy books by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone (hallowed be their names).

Stumbled across them again the other day, and on a nostalgic impulse I bought The Warlock of Firetop Mountain on the off chance the kids might enjoy it. Well I enjoyed it anyway Big Grin
Yep.

Played through a number of the fighting fantasy books.

Then progressed on to Car Wars. Classic stuff.

Si
Oh the good ol' days.... *sighs*
Bought a couple more Fighting Fantasy books at the UK Games Expo today for the kids. Apparently there's a film adaptation of Deathtrap Dungeon in the works.

Is the plot more random than Pulp Fiction / Momento, in that on the DVD you watch chapter one, then pick chapter 18 or 47 before then finding out that six scenes in the chest is actually booby trapped?

There was a guy at Studley car-boot last year that specialised in these flogging them for a pound each (hence Tom has a few), seemed to have all the titles. He said he was there every couple of weeks...
One of the first Apps I bought for my iPad was Deathtrap Dungeon and it is a fantastic update on the classic books. It still looks and reads like the books, a flicking-of-pages animation occurring between pages, and it retains all of it's original charm whilst taking some of the page-finding burden off you. I heartily recommend the FF Apps for anyone with a tablet.
I saw that mentioned on the Fighting Fantasy site - might give it a go.
Use smiley face - turn to page 313
